Niagara Parks Butterfly Conservatory

Location: on the grounds of the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens.

Distance from Niagara Falls: 9.5 KM or a 13 minute drive.

Cost: $16 CAD for adults 13+ and $10.25 for children 6-12 years old.

Location: Inside historic old town near Mississauga Beach.

Letchworth State Park

Location: Castile, New York.

Distance from Niagara Falls: 127 KM or a 1.5 hour drive.

Considered the “Grand Canyon of the East”, this park is gorgeous thanks to the Genesse River roaring through it. Check out 600-foot waterfalls, 66 miles of hiking trails, guided tours, rafting, skiing, kayaking, swimming, and even hot air ballooning. Lake Erie State Park & Beach

Location: Brocton, New York.

Distance from Niagara Falls: 118 KM or a 1.5-hour drive.

Cost: $6-$10 per vehicle for day use.

Seneca Lake

Location: Near the city of Ovid, New York.

Distance from Niagara Falls: 222 KM or a 2.5-hour drive.

Seneca is one of the Finger Lakes and is very popular with fisherman due to a large population of trout. Seneca has a collection of wineries and breweries as well as a ton to do at the lake itself. There’s an assortment of parks with hiking trails nearby as well as the Watkins Glen International Racetrack.

Rochester, New York

Location: South of Lake Ontario and East of Buffalo.

Distance from Niagara Falls: 143 KM or a 1.5-hour drive.

Rochester is teeming with things to do! There are hiking paths to enjoy (such as the Erie Canal Trail), concerts and comedy shows, vineyards and breweries, and several museums. Location: On the southern tip of the American/Canadian border.

Buffalo is Rochester’s bigger, busier older sister. This is an easy drive from the Falls and recently re-developed their waterfront. The craft beer scene has exploded alongside great taverns. Darien Lake Theme Park

Darien Lake is a Six Flags property, so you know there’s going to be awesome rollercoasters! They have a dozen thrill rides to delight the smaller kids too. In 2019 they are coming out with the tallest ride in New York! You can stay and play here with your choice of a cabin, hotel, RV rental, guest house, camping, or glamping.

Old Fort Niagara

Location: Youngstown, New York.

Distance from Niagara Falls: 27.6 KM or at 30-minute drive.

Cost: $13 for adults, $9 for kids ages 6-12.

History buffs will love this one! Old Fort Niagara is an 18th-century military post where soldiers lived and worked. With over 300 years of history, the fort offers tours, a shuttle, and a ton of information for visitors interested in this historic facility.
